Work History
Staked within a large block of “T” claims (various claim numbers, T cl 74 =YD22878) in Mar/2010 by ATAC Resources Ltd. The claims cover open ground that existed between the Dale claims to the north and Sten claims to the south staked in 2009.
In Jun/2010 the company flew an airborne ZTEM geophysical survey over eastern end of the larger Rau Gold Belt, which this occurrence lies within. In 2011 ATAC Resources carried out remote sensing studies over the entire Nadaleen trend and carried out extensive regional silt and soil sampling surveys over the Anubis occurrence area (Minfile Occurrence 106C 099) located approximately 1.4 km southeast. In 2012 the company carried out follow-up silt, soil and rock sampling programs over the Anubis occurrence area, prospected and hand trenched favorable areas.
In 2013 the company extended grid soil sampling to the south and northwest, in an area now known as the “Anubis cluster”. Following the receipt of geochemical results the company prospected, hand pitted, excavator trenched and rock sampled favorable areas which led to the discovery of the Columba showing. The company also tested the Columba showing with numerous excavator pits. In 2014 ATAC Resources dug two excavator trenches on the Columba showing as well as drilled numerous auger holes on the occurrence.
Geology
The occurrence area is located in east-central Yukon within an area geologists have referred to as the Rackla belt. The Rackla belt straddles the northern edge of the Selwyn basin, where Neoproterozoic to Paleozoic rocks of the basin are juxtaposed against Paleozoic and older slope and basin rocks of the Ogilvie platform along the Dawson thrust zone. Selwyn basin rocks in the occurrence area are dominated by slope and facies carbonate, clastic rocks and siltstone with significant deep water black shale and chert, whereas the Ogilvie platform is dominated by shallow water platformal carbonate.
Based on geological mapping by Colpron et al. and geologists employed by ATAC Resources the occurrence area is underlain by a sequence of off-shelf carbonate and shale rocks of Middle Devonian (Eifelian) to Upper Devonian – Lower Mississippian age that are cut by a series of regional faults. The Columba showing is located along the Anubis fault. The Columba showing appears to be underlain by argillite and limestone.
The Columba showing is located approximately 450 m northwest of the Draco showing, on the northern side of the Anubis fault. Pitting was focused on a northwestern facing slope immediately up slope of a strong mercury soil anomaly. The area is covered by exceptionally thick overburden containing a frozen layer of organic cover resulting in many of the pits not reaching bedrock. Rock samples collected from the pits generally consisted of altered argillite, variably dolomitized and hydrothermally altered limestone and oxidized fault rock. The best results were obtained from altered argillite which assayed 0.52 g/t gold. Moderate anomalous silver and zinc grades were obtained from oxidized fault rocks and overburden located on the periphery of the showing. The 2014 auger program conducted over the Columba showing helped to refine the location of the Anubis fault and define the lithological and geochemical boundaries of the zone.
