Work History
Staked as Hop cl 5-12 (Y48917), cl 17-30 (Y48925) and cl 33-52 (Y48939) in Jan/70 and immediately optioned to Empire Mercury Corporation Ltd which carried out a program of grid based reconnaissance soil sampling and prospecting in Jul/70. The company changed its name to Empire Metals Corporation Ltd in Dec/70.
In Sep/92 Pacific Sentinel Gold Corp staked B cl 1-47 (YB37063) 3 km to the north and C cl 1-46 (YB37110) 3 km to the northwest. The claims were staked to protect an access route along Britannia Creek to the neighboring Casino property (Minfile Occurrence #115J 028). The company changed its name to Pacific Sentinel Resources Inc in Aug/96.
Restaked within Betty cl 677-730 (YD133467) in Dec/2010 by Ethos Capital Corp. The claims are part of an option agreement Ethos Capital signed earlier on November 30, 2010 with S. Ryan for the Betty property.
Ethos Capital carried out “first pass” ridge and spur soiling, reconnaissance scale prospecting and geological mapping programs during the early part of the 2011 field season. As assay results were received, crews followed up anomalous results with detailed, grid based soil sampling. In Jul/2011 the company flew an airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over the entire claim block. Geophysical and geochemical anomalies were trenched and sampled.
In Aug/2011 the company added Betty claims 731-860 (YE21301).
GEOLOGY
The area was reconnaissance mapped by D. Templeman-Kluit in 1974. Gordey and Makepeace (2003) released a geological compilation that covered this area. In 2006, M. Colpron of the Yukon Geological Survey released a Tectonic Assemblage map which included this portion of the Yukon-Tanana terrane. Recently J. Ryan, C. Roots and others employed by the Geological Survey of Canada have been conducting geological mapping in the area as part of a joint project with the Yukon Geological Survey. Various maps and other products are tentatively scheduled to be pubically released in 2012.
The Betty property presently comprises 860 claims and is located east of Britannia Creek in west-central Yukon. The northern half of the property is underlain by metamorphic rocks which Gordey and Makepeace assigned to the Devonian to Mississippian Nasina assemblage. Recent work by J. Ryan suggests that these rocks likely belong to the slightly younger Permian aged Klondike Schist assemblage. The southern half of the property is intruded by mid-Cretaceous granodiorite assigned to the Dawson Range batholith.
The Empire occurrence (this occurrence) is underlain by mid-Cretaceous granodiorite assigned to the Dawson Range batholith. Empire Mecury Corp collected soil samples from across the property using a cut and picketed grid. Sample lines were spaced at 250 m intervals and individuals samples were collected at 61 m intervals. Samples returned copper values of between 6 ppm and 44 ppm and background values for molybdenum. The occurrence location appears to mark the site of a spot anomaly which returned 44 ppm copper, the highest result obtained from the sampling program.
Ridge and spur soil sampling conducted by Ethos Capital in vicinity of this occurrence did not return any significant anomalous results.
