WORK HISTORY

Staked as Royale cl 1-66 (Y38090) in Oct/69 by Atlas Explrations Ltd which earlier signed a joint participation agreement in Jan/69 with Dynasty Explorations Ltd. The companies carried out reconnaissance soil sampling and geological mapping programs in 1970.

Restaked within Coffee cl 2125-2346 (YD89255) in Aug/2010 by Kaminak Gold Corp. The claims are located approximately 21 km south-southeast of the company’s main Coffee occurrence (Minfile Occurrence #115J 110). In 2011 the company plans to carry out ridge and spur soil sampling in the vicinity of this occurrence.

GEOLOGY

The area was reconnaissance mapped by D. Templeman-Kluit in 1974. Since that time various geologists have mapped near this area but no one has directly mapped the occurrence area in detail. Gordey and Makepeace (2003) released a geological compilation that covered this area. M. Colpron of the Yukon Geological Survey released a Tectonic Assemblage map which included this portion of the Yukon-Tanana Terrane in 2006. Colpron's stratigraphic units and age dates differ slightly from those used by Gordey and Makepeace because he is trying to work out terrane wide relationships.

At present, the Coffee property covers in excess of 15 000 acres (3 000+ claims) and stretches across topographic map sheet 115J 14 and portions of map sheets 115J 13 and 15. It is located on the south side of the Yukon River and stretches roughly from Britannia Creek on the east to Independence Creek on the west. The main Coffee property is underlain by a sequence of shallowly to moderately south to southwest-dipping Paleozoic metamorphic rocks that are assigned to The Yukon-Tanana terrane and are intruded by the Cretaceous Coffee Creek granite along a west to northwest-trending contact. Both the metamorphic and intrusive rocks are cut by intermediate to felsic dykes of unknown age.

Kaminak Gold geologists have not yet mappped the area around this occurrence. Based on assessment reports filed by Atlas Explorations, the original Royale claims were staked to cover a large east-west trending magnetic anomaly outlined by an airborne geophysical survey completed by the Geological Survey of Canada between Oct/65 and Apr/66. The occurrence location marks the approximate center point of the this magnetic anomaly.

Reconnaissance scale geological mapping completed by Atlas Exploration and work by Colpron indicates that the occurrence is underlain by granodiorite assigned to the mid-Cretaceous Dawson Range batholith. The batholith is in intrusive contact with Devonian to Mississippian metamorphic rocks to the south which Colpron labeled “Snowcap Assemblage” . The term “Snowcap Assemblage” is more of a general terrane wide description. Other geologists have used various names such as Wolverine Metamorphic suite (Johnston, 1995) or Nasina Assemblage (Gordey and Makepeace, 2003). Despite the diffent names, geologists in general, agree that these metamorphic rocks are Devonian to Mississippian in age.

Geological mapping completed by Atlas Explorations noted a lense of granite within the granodiorite underlying the centre of the Royale claims. This lense is likely a slightly younger phase of the batholith. The company also noted numerous small dacite dykes cutting the batholith and at the metasediment – batholith contact. Minor amounts of copper, molybdenum, lead and zinc mineralization are associated with the dykes. Reconnaissance soil sampling carried out by Atlas explorations did not return any significant response.
