Work History

Staked as Ang cl 1-8 (YB57672) by E. Curley in June 1995. Curley carried out a small exploration program later in the summer. In August 1997 Curley staked Ang cl 9-20 (YC08089) and carried out a soil sampling and bulldozer trenching program on the claim block.
The area covering the Ang occurrence was re-staked in 2011 by YES Exploration Syndicate Inc. with Olympic Resources Ltd. as Sun cl 1-192 who carried out soil sampling, bedrock mapping and prospecting over the nearby Car and Wind occurrences (MINFILE occurrences 115I 085 and 161).

In 2015, Strategic Metals Ltd. re-staked the Sun claims as Queen cl 1-121, including the Ang showing. Rockhaven Resources acquired the Queen claims from Strategic Metals later in 2015.

Regional & Property Geology

The occurrence is located in the Dawson Range within Yukon-Tanana Terrane. The Brown-McDade gold-silver deposit (MINFILE occurrence 115I 064) is located approximately 4 km to the west. The rocks of the YTT in this region consist of Early Mississipian metamorphic rocks separated into meta-sedimentary and meta-igneous suites (Stroshein, 1998). The meta-sedimentary suite consists of micaceous quartz-feldspar gneiss, schist and quartzite of the Nasina Assemblage with local metamorphosed carbonate noted in the Brown-McDade open pit. The meta-igneous package is comprised of biotite-hornblende feldspar gneiss and coarse-grained granodiorite orthogneiss with lesser amphibolite.

The occurrence is underlain by the meta-igneous package, which includes biotite-hornblende feldspar gneiss and coarse-grained granodiorite orthogneiss with lesser amphibolite. Colpron (2014) assigned these rocks the Carboniferous Simpson Range (MgSR). The metamorphic rocks are cut by mid-Cretaceous quartz feldspar porphyry dykes belonging to the Mount Nansen Volcanic Suite.

Mineralization & Results

The Ang claims were staked to investigate a quartz feldspar porphyry dyke that cuts the meta-igneous rocks. Widespread brecciation, as well as quartz and chalcedony veinlets that host disseminated pyrite and trace galena and arsenopyrite were noted associated with the dyke.

Rock and soil samples collected in 1995 along the length of the dyke returned assays up to 46 ppb Au. Soil sampling carried out in 1997 returned assays up to 138 ppb Au and rock samples collected from 5 trenches excavated across the quartz feldspar porphyry dyke returned assays up to 47 ppb Au and 647 ppm As. Both the rock and soil samples display a weak correlation between Au and Cu, Zn, As and Sb values.
