Work History
An old 3 m adit occurs here but no staking records have been found. It is possible that three copper grants, Red Cliff, Gold Bug and Ground Squirrel, recorded at Fort Selkirk in September, 1899 by S.H. Lough and J.H. Jorgenson, were situated here although no locations were given other than an identification as Mineral Location No. 5.
Staked as Fac cl (Y66839) in Jul/72 by P. Versluce and optioned in Oct/73 by B.A. Copper ML, which carried out several days prospecting and reconnaissance soil sampling in 1974.
Capsule Geology
Minor copper oxide with traces of chalcopyrite are found for a length of 15 m along a bluff of Mt Nansen volcanics which outcrop on the west side of the Yukon Crossing tote trail. Average grade is visually estimated at less than 0.5% Cu although selected specimens from the talus could grade up to 2% Cu.
