Work History
Staked as 176 Tom & Mum cl (Y96561) in Aug-Sep/74 by McIntyre ML, which explored with mapping and prospecting in 1974 and mapping, geochem sampling, hand trenching and 10 BQ holes (900.7 m) and 22 Winkie holes (325.8 m) in 1975. McIntyre entered a joint venture in 1978 with Can Superior EL.
Minor soil and silt sampling has been completed near the occurrence but work has been limited since 1976.
Capsule Geology
The occurrence is underlain by Late Proterozoic-Early Cambrian Hyland Group rocks. From bottom to top the sequence consists of of shale, sandstone, micrite, sandstone, shale and orange weathering dolomite. The micrite includes various carbonate rocks, variously bedded and brecciated, and in part dolomitic, cherty and/or oolitic. Zebra-textured dolomite is common in the are and is associated with deposition of red to dark green sphalerite. Galena is not generally common and pyrite is absent. Numerous small showings are present but the best (J35) was reportedly up to 121.9 m long, 15 m wide and assayed up to 25% combined lead-zinc. The best intersection (Hole 75-31) assayed 4.4% Zn, 0.5% Pb and 2.7 g/t Ag across 1.8 m.
Soil assays from 2012 returned up to 25 ppb gold and up to 2000 ppm arsenic.
