Work History

Originally staked as Candy cl 1-80 (YA45299) in Aug/79 by Cominco Ltd.
Restaked as Candyman cl 1-32 (YB90991) in Dec/97 by NDU Resources Ltd which merged with United Keno Hill Mines Ltd in the spring of 1998. Expatriate Resources Ltd carried out geological mapping and geochemical sampling of the claims later that year under an option agreement with NDU which transferred to United Keno Hill. In Oct/98, Expatriate purchased a 100% interest in the claims from United Keno Hill.

Capsule Geology

The claims are underlain by Earn Group clastic rocks consisting of Upper Devonian to Middle Mississippian Prevost Formation quartz pebble conglomerate with minor shale and Lower to Upper Devonian Portrait Lake Formation shale.
Two main areas of anomalous geochemical response have been delineated on the property. The strongest geochemical response is produced from a series of east-west trending gossans that occur over 1400 m on a north facing slope in the middle of the property. Analyses of grab samples of gossanous material returned the following peak values; 2.0% Zn, >10 000 ppm Mn, 872 ppm Ni, 540 ppm Co, 338 ppm Cd and 220 ppm U.
The second and largest area of anomalous geochemical response occurs at the east end of Expatriate's Candyman claim block (2.5 km east of the occurrence location), where strong coincident Zn (up to 3850 ppm), V (up to 3000 ppm), Ni (up to 307 ppm) and Mo (up to 102 ppm) occur over a 500 m strike length that is open to the east and the south.
