Work History
*Located within the Whitehorse Copper Belt. Exploration conducted by Whitehorse Copper Mines Ltd and predecessor companies is summarized in Minfile Occurrence #105D 053.
Staked in Dec/63 as CU cl 1-4 (85811) by Quinalta Petroleum Ltd, which later transferred an interest to a subsidiary, Fleetwood Resources Ltd, and assigned a 1/3 interest to Dawn Petroleum Ltd for financing exploration of the claims. The work consisted of geological mapping in 1964 and one diamond drill hole (42.1 m) in 1965.
The claims were sold in 1969 to H. Larson, who transferred them in 1975 to Larson Copper Corporation Ltd, enlarged the property in 1972 and 1977 and performed bulldozer trenching in 1969, 1972-73, 1978-80, and 1982-83, and drilled and blasted in 1989.
In May/96 R. Hamel staked the Whitehorse (YB66725) and Golden Gate claims (YB66726) 1 km to the northeast, overtop Arctic Chief Lots 52 and 53.
Capsule Geology
The claims cover sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Lewes River Group, close to the contact with a mid-Cretaceous intrusive. According to assessment records, the 1965 hole intersected 28.0 m of 0.35% Cu, probably in a skarn zone.
